Interpreting
What is it?
While translator needs to pay a lot of attention to written expression in the target language, interpreter has to master the spoken word in both languages. In interpreting, there is no space for hesitating or even browsing through a dictionary. There are two types of interpreting: consecutive and simultaneous. During consecutive interpreting, the speaker stops frequently to give the interpreter time to render what was said. If the pace of the speech is not adjusted, such as in simultaneous interpreting, interpreter starts interpreting as soon as he/she understands the general meaning of the sentence, while paying attention to the text at all times.
